Mets’ president Sandy Alderson says Bauer would be a “great personality in New York”

The New York Mets need a starting pitcher, more than one in fact. Behind ace Jacob deGrom and rookie David Peterson, there is just not too much depth. Steven Matz had his season derailed by a shoulder injury, and Rick Porcello, Marcus Stroman, and Michael Wacha are free agents.

To take advantage of the great offensive core existing in the New York Mets’ roster, the team needs to bring at least one frontline starter and one or two solid pieces to complete the rotation. Trevor Bauer is in the market, available for just money. It is clear that his talent would really take the team to the next level, but there will be competition for his services.
