After 62 games, we have a good guess as to where the New York Mets will finish the season. My guess is it’s somewhere in the middle of the National League. If they won 77 games again this year, my jaw would not drop.
There have been ups and downs this year, often with some extremes. The strong start early on carried by the offense seems like a distant memory. The great starting pitching performances from early in May feels like it didn’t last long enough.
Most painful of all, the absence of great pitching and even better hitting has gone away altogether.
