Mets place Zack Scott on administrative leave, Sandy Alderson assumes GM duties

The Mets have placed acting General Manager Zack Scott on administrative leave “until further notice,” the team announced today, in the aftermath of Scott’s DWI charge in White Plains. In the meantime, Team President Sandy Alderson has assumed Scott’s GM duties.

After being found asleep in his car at 4:15am in White Plains, Scott was charged with driving while intoxicated and other traffic violation. He appeared in court this morning and pled not guilty to these charges. His next court appearance is scheduled for October 7th.

Sources close to the Mets front office told Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News that the new front office hierarchy will be an “all-hands on deck” situation and a “group responsibility,” with Sandy Alderson advised to focus on baseball operations.
