Mets place Tylor Megill on injured list with elbow sprain, call up Justin Garza

The Mets’ starting rotation that proved to be a significant strength through the first two-and-a-half months of this season continues to fall apart, as the team has placed right-handed starting pitcher Tylor Megill on the injured list with a right elbow strain. For now, the Mets are calling up right-handed reliever Justin Garza to take his place on the active roster.

With Kodai Senga having hit the injured list just a few days ago after suffering a hamstring strain, the Mets are down forty percent of their Opening Day rotation. Both Frankie Montas and Sean Manaea have been pitching in the minors recently on rehab assignments, and ideally, they’d both be ready to make their season debuts in the big leagues in the near future, filling those vacancies in the process.
