The Mets have placed right-handed pitcher Max Kranick on the injured list with a right elbow strain, called up Justin Hagenman and Dedniel Núñez, and optioned Ty Adcock to Triple-A Syracuse.
Hagenman is expected to be the bulk pitcher tomorrow in the team’s series opener in Philadelphia, but the Kranick injury comes as a surprise. The bullpen swap of Adcock for Núñez is the team’s latest move to call up a fresh arm in an effort to keep the rest of the major league staff fresh during a stretch of thirteen days without an off day.
