Mets’ one glaring weakness: Who’s going to steal bases?

Golden State has the Splash Brothers, the A’s had the Bash Brothers and the Mets when their young pitchers sign their next contracts, could have the Cash Brothers. But in terms of overall team speed, the Mets are simply lacking.

And it is not just stealing bases, although the Mets are pretty bad there. The Mets went to the World Series last season despite having 51 stolen bases, worst in the National League in two years, second worst (behind only Baltimore) in all of baseball and, excluding the 1994 strike season, the lowest Mets total in 40 years.
