Omar Minaya has seen plenty of baseball in his life. On Monday, the New York Mets sent their talent evaluator to watch New York Yankees pitching prospect Deivi Garcia make his Triple-A debut.
Why does this matter? Minaya wouldn’t show up unless the Mets would even consider a deal with the Yankees.
Mets and Yankees trades are more fictional and radio talk show call-in fodder than anything else. Last summer, we heard plenty about Jacob deGrom or Noah Syndergaard going to the Bronx. Sometimes, Yankees fans were even willing to give up Gary Sanchez and Gleyber Torres in this deals they wrote up on cocktail napkins.
