Mets name Zack Scott senior vice president/assistant general manager

The Mets have named Zack Scott a senior vice president and assistant general manager, a move that the team announced this afternoon. Scott had been in the running for the Mets’ general manager gig, which went to Jared Porter, and now he’s joined Porter in working under Mets team president Sandy Alderson in baseball operations.

The 43-year-old Scott has spent the last seventeen years working for the Red Sox, and Porter mentioned in the Mets’ announcement that he had worked with Scott for ten years when both of them were in Boston.
