In a stunning turn of events Jacob deGrom was bad, then hurt, then blew his Cy Young chances all in the span of one inning. Zack Wheeler outpitched his old rotation mate but a big game by J.D. Davis gave the Mets the lead late. Given a one-run lead Edwin Diaz came in to get the save which he did with relative ease to give the team a crucial victory.
With deGrom out after the second inning, Michael Wacha saved the day with a solid appearance out of the bullpen.
