Mets Morning News: Mets pursuing McCann, meet the artist formerly known as “DJ Hey beef”

It was an eventful day for the newest Met, Trevor May—or DJ Hey Beef as he is also known in some circles—who had his introductory press conference with the media yesterday.

May cited the “buzz” around Steve Cohen’s purchase of the Mets as a reason he signed with the team.

The Mets are reportedly in active talks to sign free agent catcher James McCann, as an alternative to signing J.T. Realmuto. It is looking likely that McCann will eventually be signed by someone for a four-year deal.

Former Met Wilson Ramos reached ten years of service time in 2020, which is quite an accomplishment for anyone, let alone a catcher.
