Mets Morning News: Mets mash in Miami

The Mets’ bats came alive last night in a 11-4 romp over the Marlins. Pete Alonso and Robinson Cano each slugged a pair of homers in the victory. Alonso reached base in all five plate appearances. The offensive explosion more than made up for Robert Gsellman’s second straight short and subpart start. Chasen Shreve had a magnificent appearance in relief, striking out five and retiring all seven batters he faced.

Jacob deGrom will get the nod on Wednesday after missing his last start with a stiff neck.
