Mets Morning News: Mets finally give up on Rafael Montero; Callaway confirmed to return as manager

The promise, the talent, and the disappointment — after four injury-filled years in which he was never able to reproduce his minor-league dominance on the major league level, the Mets have finally given up on Rafael Montero, who elected free agency after being outrighted by the team.

It was a busy day in general for the Mets, and GM Brodie Van Wagenen, who made 11 roster moves.

The Mets will also be bringing Mickey Callaway back as manager. The move had been expected, but now seems official after a good meeting between Callaway and Van Wagenen.
