Zack Wheeler looked much better against the Phillies but unfortunately the offense was stymied by Jake Arrieta. Wheeler gave up three runs but was mostly solid. The Mets rallied late but it wasn’t enough and they dropped the game and the series.
Despite losing the series against the Phillies, the Mets held their own against their division rivals.
Before the game, Drew Gagnon was optioned back to Syracuse and Jacob Rhame was recalled.
With the Mets rotating bullpen arms, Craig Kimbrel could probably help this team.
