There wasn’t much more Jacob deGrom could do in this one to earn the win. Even without his best stuff he pitched seven scoreless innings, struck out eight, and left with a 1-0 lead. However, without his best stuff Jeurys Familia could not keep the Marlins off the board in the ninth. They scored two runs which blew yet another brilliant outing from the Mets’ ace.
After that crushing blow the Mets now head out for a road trip that has them facing the two best teams in the National League. Fun.
