The Mets have signed Adrian Gonzalez to a major league deal, pending a physical. The signing came very soon after rumors that the Mets were in “in serious discussions” with Gonzalez. The Braves will be on the hook for Gonzalez’s $17 million 2018 salary, while the Mets will be paying him league minimum.
Matt Ehalt presented the case in favor of the Gonzalez signing.
Jenrry Mejia is expected to apply for reinstatement after being handed a lifetime ban in February of 2016. A hearing would be held within 30 days of Mejia submitting his application.
