Mets Morning News: David Peterson’s complete game shutout extends win streak to five

David Peterson became the first Met to pitch a complete game this season and it came in the team’s 5-0 win against the Nationals. He was simply masterful from start to finish striking out six and not walking anyone against a pesky Washington lineup. He got the shutout too but was helped by Tyrone Taylor throwing out a runner at home plate in the eighth inning.

The offense was led by Brandon Nimmo who hit two solo home runs and Juan Soto who slugged a two-run shot. The Mets now look for a series sweep with Kodai Senga on the mound.
