Mets Mind Boggler: Players with 25 or more home runs in a single season

Over the course of the Mets’ existence as a franchise, the team hasn’t really been known for power hitting, generally speaking. Since the team’s inception in 1962, the Mets have hit 7,671 home runs, the 18th-highest total in Major League Baseball—with several far younger franchises trailing them. On a per-season basis, the Mets have averaged 132 home runs per year, well behind the likes of the league-leading Yankees, who have hit 9,920 since the start of the ‘62 season for an average of 171.

But that doesn’t mean the Mets haven’t had power hitters.
