Mets might skip injured Dillon Gee, start Steven Matz on Sunday. Or not…

The Mets might need to skip Dillon Gee‘s Sunday start due to a groin issue, potentially leading to Steven Matz‘ major league debut.

However, there’s also a chance the Mets simply move their other starting pitchers up a day before reevaluating on Tuesday, according to beat writers.

Terry Collins told reporters prior to Friday’s game that one of the Mets’ starting pitchers might need to be skipped this time through the rotation, but wouldn’t elaborate. However, Kristie Ackert of the Daily News reported soon after that Dillon Gee felt he needed an extra day of rest, and later noted that Gee came in from Friday’s bullpen session with the trainer.
