The Mets have reportedly checked in on Marlins starting pitcher Edward Cabrera, according to Pat Ragazzo of Sports Illustrated.
A former top prospect, Cabrera showed glimpses of his potential at the major league level while battling injuries over the past few years before breaking out in 2025. A right-handed 27-year-old, Cabrera has a 3.35 ERA with 96 strikeouts in 94.0 innings this year, and he’s eligible for his first year of arbitration next season. He brandishes a sinker that averages 96.6 miles per hour, as well as an elite curveball-slider combo that has landed him a 98th-percentile breaking run value this season.
