The Mets are among the team to have checked in on Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara as a trade possibility, according to Mike Puma. The 29-year-old right-handed pitcher missed all of the 2024 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, and he has a rather unsightly 6.66 ERA with a 4.48 FIP in 104.0 innings with the Marlins so far this year.
Those numbers have been pretty bad all season long, as Alcantara has a 5.93 ERA over his past seven starts dating back to June 16. And he hasn’t put together a good month yet this season with ERAs of 8.
