The Mets jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the third inning, with Dilson Herrera scored on an error and Rymer Liriano chased home a run on a sacrifice fly. The Mets offense would fall silent after that, and the Syracuse pitching staff could not hold the rather slim lead.
Starter Hector Santiago gave the runs back in the third and fourth innings, and the bullpen proved ineffective behind him. Jacob Rhame gave up the final two runs of the game, both of which coming on a Gift Ngoepe home run.
