Mets coach Chili Davis is getting it done while sticking it to Cubs

CHICAGO — Opposite-field hits. Home runs. Line drives. Even hits against the shift.

Mets hitters, led by Jeff McNeil’s magic bat and Pete Alonso’s raw polar bear power, put together quite the display Saturday at Wrigley Field, pouncing on the Cubs as they came away with 12 hits and an impressive 10-2 victory.

A victory Sunday and the Mets will have their first road series win since April 1-3 in Miami.

There were many happy Mets, but the happiest may have been hitting coach Chili Davis, who was fired by the Cubs after last season and subsequently hired by the Mets.
