During the first game of their four-game series against the Washington Nationals, Mets center fielder Juan Lagares suffered a fractured left thumb.
With such a serious injury, Lagares is destined for the disabled list likely starting tomorrow, and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.
Lagares’ injury, like Neil Walker‘s, comes in possibly the worst time for both Juan and the Mets. The center fielder had actually been playing quite well since getting some more time in the starting lineup. In relatively limited time this season, Lagares has hit .275 with an on-base percentage of .
