The New York Mets have optioned Kevin Plawecki to Triple-A Las Vegas and called up Anthony Recker, the club announced after Tuesday’s game.
Recker has hit .123/.254/.228 SLG in 67 plate appearances for the Mets this season.
Plawecki hit .228 with a .283 OBP and .296 SLG in 227 plate appearances (62 games) with the Mets after being called up from Triple-A in April, but had been struggling over the last few weeks while playing sporadically.
The Mets kept Plawecki on the roster when Travis d’Arnaud was activated from the disabled list a few weeks ago, and Terry Collins intimated that part of the reason was so the Mets could ease d’Arnaud back in to a regular role.
