Mets’ bats break out in big way in rout of Pirates

On a night in which the Mets finally scored some runs, Noah Syndergaard made sure they didn’t need many.

Given a three-run lead in the bottom of the first, Syndergaard made easy work of the Pirates in an 11-2 win at Citi Field to snap a three-game losing streak.

About the only suspense in Queens on Wednesday was whether Syndergaard would finish what he started for the first time.

Though he fell short of that goal, faltering in the ninth after 8 ¹/u2083 innings, Syndergaard did just about everything else. He extended his scoreless streak at home to 26 innings before David Freese doubled in John Jaso — who had three of the five hits Syndergaard surrendered — in the ninth.
