Mets backtrack on saying Michael Cuddyer will avoid DL

A day after saying injured outfielder Michael Cuddyer would avoid the disabled list, Mets manager Terry Collins backtracked Thursday morning and stated the team would need to “revisit” the prognosis on Friday.

Cuddyer, who's received one cortisone shot and one joint lubricant shot in his strained left knee, was out of the starting lineup for the second straight game Thursday, the series finale with the Cubs. The shots hadn’t done much to improve Cuddyer’s condition as of Thursday morning, according to Collins.

“After three days, if that shot hasn’t taken effect,” Collins said, “maybe we need to look at it again.
