The Mets have agreed on a two-year deal with IF Asdrubal Cabrera that includes a third-year team option, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
The deal, which is pending a physical, will likely not be completed before Thursday, multiple reports indicated.
According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the deal will guarantee Cabrera $18.5 million total. It wasn’t clear if any of that money was part of a potential buyout of the third-year option.
Cabrera, 30, hit .265 with a .315 OBP and .430 OBP while hitting 15 home runs and driving in 58 runs last season for the Rays while playing primarily shortstop.
