Mets 3B Wright (neck) needs 6-8 weeks of rest

NEW YORK -- Mets third baseman David Wright has been placed on the disabled list with a herniated disk in his neck and needs six to eight weeks of rest from baseball activities, the team announced Friday.

After the rest period, Wright will resume baseball activity.

Wright tried oral anti-inflammatory medication and then received an injection in his neck in the past week, but neither sufficiently alleviated the symptoms in order for him to return to the field.
