After he refused an assignment to the minors, the Mets designated Matt Harvey for assignment on Friday.
"He didn't really express any rationale," Alderson said regarding Harvey's decision to refuse the minor league assignment.
Harvey, who is due roughly $5 million for the remainder of the season, was moved to the bullpen last month and had been struggling in his new role.
