Mets C Kevin Plawecki suffered a broken left hand when he was hit by a pitch during Wednesday night's game against the Marlins in Miami, SNY's Steve Gelbs confirmed.
However, the injury is viewed as short-term, with Plawecki expected to return in as little as two-to-three weeks, according to Gelbs.
Manager Mickey Callaway and Plawecki had said after the game that X-rays on the hand were negative. However, an MRI Plawecki had in New York on Friday revealed a hairline fracture that will not require surgery, the Mets announced.
Plawecki has been placed on the 10-day DL, retroactive to April 12, and a replacement for Plawecki will be announced later on Friday.
