Juan Soto returns to ballpark where he spent one season before choosing the Mets in free agency

The first-place Mets (28-16) begin a three-game series against the first-place Yankees (25-18) tonight in The Bronx as Juan Soto makes his first appearance at the ballpark where he spent exactly one season of his career before choosing to sign with the Mets in free agency following the 2024 season.

Soto has gotten off to a relatively slow start this year—by his lofty standards—with a 139 wRC+, eight home runs, and a .255/.380/.465 line in 192 plate appearances. But he’s part of the trio atop the Mets’ lineup that is dangerous for opposing pitchers, as Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso are hitting very well, too.
