Juan Soto exited tonight’s game against the Padres with what the Mets are calling a foot contusion. The severity of the contusion is not yet known.
The injury happened in the top of the fourth inning. Soto led off and, on an 0-2 count, fouled a pitch off his back leg. He hopped around and fell to a knee, but re-entered the box to complete his at-bat. He ended up grounding to second base, and would exit the game shortly thereafter. He was replaced in center by Tyrone Taylor, and Jeff McNeil was shifted from center over to right field.
