Chipper Jones, Vladimir Guerrero, Jim Thome and Trevor Hoffman have been elected to the baseball Hall of Fame, it was announced Wednesday night.
The voters obviously like Jones more than Mets fans, giving him 97.2% of the vote in his first time on the ballot. Guerrero, who fell victim to first-time bias last year, got 92.9% this time around. Thome got nearly 90%: Hoffman nearly 80%.
Once surprise is that Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens both held steady in the mid-50s% after making steady climbs. Perhaps their elections are not inevitable. Of course, the smarter folks at the IBWAA made them Hall of Famers today.
