Jesse Winker ejected, goes crazy in final act in series as Mets villain

An unlikely villain was vanquished in spectacular fashion.

Reds outfielder Jesse Winker was ejected in the ninth inning by home-plate ump Marty Foster for arguing an 0-1 pitch that was called a strike, but appeared well outside.

“Wow, wow, that was not close,” SNY analyst Keith Hernandez said in the booth.

Foster urged a furious Winker to return to the batter’s box, but the argument continued and he was tossed, much to the delight of Mets fan. Those would be the same ones Winker has spent this four-game set at Citi Field taunting.

Winker ended the Reds’ two wins here by waving to the fans in the outfield — including following Wednesday’s game, which he finished with a sliding catch of Brandon Nimmo’s fly ball down the left-field line.
