Jenrry Mejia, the first baseball player to receive a lifetime suspension for the usage of illegal performance-enhancing drugs, is crying conspiracy.

The former Mets closer has hired outside counsel to advance the notion that Major League Baseball framed him and the MLB Players Association neglected to support him. Baseball banned Mejia for life last month after Mejia failed a third drug test within the span of a year.

Mejia told The New York Times that following his second failed drug test last July — which was inaccurate, the 26-year-old said — baseball officials told him that if he appealed the result, “they will find a way to find a third positive.
