The Mets' former closer has been permanently suspended after testing positive for a performance enhancing drug three times in less than a year. Major League Baseball announced Friday evening that Mejia, who was serving a 162-game suspension, has now tested positive for the PED Boldenone.
Mejia is the first player, in the minors or majors, who has received a lifetime ban for a third positive PED test in violation of the MLB's Joint Drug Policy.
