SAN FRANCISCO — Jay Bruce is soliciting advice from friends to help with his transition to first base.
At Wrigley Field last week, that meant asking Anthony Rizzo for pointers about the position. When the Mets arrived at AT&T Park days later, Bruce sought out Brandon Belt. And Bruce’s old friend from Cincinnati, Joey Votto, has been answering questions from his former teammate.
“If I am going to do this I want to be good at it, and I think I can be good at it,” Bruce said Sunday before the Mets beat the Giants 2-1.
