Jacob deGrom doesn’t rule out innings limit without new contract

Jacob deGrom isn’t ruling out putting a restriction on his innings if he enters the season without a new contract.

The Mets’ Cy Young winner has put a deadline of Opening Day for discussions over a long-term deal, as he is two years away from free agency. Thursday, in his first press conference of spring training, he reiterated his desire to stay with the team but said the Mets have not made an offer yet.

Jeff Berry, deGrom’s agent, recently released a memo that included the idea that players could cap their workload in a season to protect their value ahead of free agency.
