Kazuma Okamoto is coming to the United States to meet with several teams. The New York Mets aren’t among the reported suitors.
There might not be a free agent who fits the Mets better. While Cody Bellinger offers a solution in left field with the ability to give them innings in center field and even first base, Okamoto would be a natural to flip between both corner infield spots. He’s Brett Baty insurance at third base, a first base alternative over Jorge Polanco, and should sign for a contract at least close to their desire of three years.
