The Internet Baseball Writers Association of America (IBWAA) on Monday named Pete Alonso of our very own Mets and Yordan Alvarez the rookies of the year in their respective leagues.
Alonso was the overwhelming choice following his incredible year, receiving 600 points. Mike Soroka was second with 220 and Fernando Tatis, Jr. was third with 147. That was my voting order as well.
Over in the American League, Alvarez was also an easy winner over Elroy Jimenez, 541-130. Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. was third with 128 points. Again, that was my order.
