Griffin Canning was forced to leave his start in the third inning of the Mets’ series finale against the Braves this evening, as he went to the ground with a leg injury that appeared to be quite painful.
Presumably the Mets will have an initial diagnosis of what exactly went wrong before too long, but Canning was hardly able to put weight on his left foot as he walked off the field and didn’t put any weight on it going down the dugout steps. For now, the team has announced that Canning left with an ankle injury and will undergo imaging.
