Great Scott, Bad Offense

The Mets got a stellar debut from their fifth best prospect but could not wake their bats from slumber as they dropped their second straight to the Rays, 3-1. Both teams got great starting pitching, but the Rays were able to simply convert more of their baserunners into runs.

Both starting pitchers faced some early difficulties in the first inning. Brandon Nimmo led off the game on the first pitch with a two-base error hit off of Zack Littell and then was driven in by Starling Marte, thanks in part to Nimmo sliding under the glove of Ben Rortvedt.
