Curtis Granderson hopes Yoenis Cespedes is back with the Mets in 2017, he told reporters in Chicago this past weekend after accepting MLB's Roberto Clemente Award for community service.
Cespedes is expected to opt out of his three-year deal and become a free agent, though he and the Mets continue to work on a new contract, MLB reporter Jon Heyman wrote Oct. 26.
"If he does (opt out), it doesn't necessarily mean that all is lost," Granderson said. "It just means that there might need to be some restructuring that has to be done to bring him back.
