In Gee's place, top prospect Noah Syndergaard has delivered two consecutive promising outings, going 1-1 with a 3.18 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 11 1/3 innings. General manager Sandy Alderson said earlier this week that the team is still evaluating its rotation options, with Syndergaard next scheduled to pitch on Friday in Pittsburgh.

"Every new data point is useful," Alderson said, noting that Syndergaard is not a candidate to pitch in relief.
