Sandy Alderson said on Aug. 9 that he is hopeful Yoenis Cespedes will be ready to return from the disabled list when eligible on August 19, though he would not commit to an exact return date. Cespedes took batting practice in Port St. Lucie on Tuesday, Alderson told reporters.

Alderson told reporters on August 4 that, in retrospect, the Mets probably should have put Cespedes on the disabled earlier than they did.
