On the very first pitch Carlos Carrasco threw on the mound at Citi Field, he gave up a home run to now NL Rookie of the Year favorite Jonathan India. The building had been buzzing due to a combination of Cookie’s debut, the return of the black jerseys, and post-trading deadline excitement. The energy seemed to instantly evaporate, but Carrasco did not yield another run after that in his four innings of work.
The problem is that the Mets also failed to score much after the first inning and the bullpen did not do its job.
