The record for most runs in a single day was not meant to be as the Mets dropped the second game of the doubleheader to the Phillies, 9-5. Steven Matz had a rough night in his first start in over two weeks since going on the DL. The lefty only went two innings while giving up six runs, four earned, and five hits.
In the first inning, it looked as if the Mets had picked up right where they left off in game one, but they didn’t do much on the offensive side from that point on.
