The Mets nearly dropped their season finale against the Yankees this evening in Queens. The four plus hour game was decided in the pouring rain by a towering home run in the bottom of the tenth inning for a 9-7 win. It was as emotional a win as the Mets have had this year.
Robert Gsellman started for the Mets and could not get through the top of the second inning, leaving with four runs having crossed the plate. The Mets, behind the unlikely bat of Todd Frazier, managed to tie the game in the fourth, before losing it again in the seventh.
