Final score: Mets 6, Cubs 3—Bittersweet

The Mets beat the Cubs for the third straight day on Wednesday night, but it didn’t feel like a win at all.

After pitching a perfect first three innings and striking out eight of the first nine batters (including seven in a row), Jacob deGrom exited the game early with right shoulder tightness.

Before leaving the game, deGrom helped himself out with an RBI single in the bottom of the second, driving in Kevin Pillar. Pillar was on base thanks to an RBI hit of his own, which gave the Mets their first run of the night.
