The bench mob came through once again for the Mets as they took the series opener 3-1 against the Braves Monday night in Cobb County. The collective lost one key member, however, after Braves reliever Jacob Webb hit Kevin Pillar in the face with a fastball in the seventh inning. Pillar lied doubled over in the batter's box for a minute before the training staff was able to stop the bleeding, and he left under his own power.
Tomás Nido recorded his first three-hit day and James McCann added a clutch RBI double to open the scoring for the Mets in the seventh.
